Explore the principals of songwriting:

Paul's students have gone on to have considerable success in winning competitions and forging careers in songwriting. Many have reached the final and won the Song Academy Young Songwriter competition, The Pilton Stage Competition resulting in performances at The Glastonbury Festival and London’s Wired4Music Allegro Festival and many more.

Over the six days the songwriting sessions will include igniting the spark of a songwriting idea and developing it by trusting what you feel. Overcoming writers block and how to develop ideas further to create a song that gels and takes the listener on an emotional journey. Writing songs starting with music or lyrics first and how to rewrite without destroying the song, knowing when a song needs more work or knowing when it is the best it can be.

If you play a portable instrument bring it along, or Keyboards will be available for you to use.

Putting across feelings and emotions through lyrics and music. Advice on lyric writing, chord structures, melody, song structures and studying famous songs by different artists to develop an understanding of what makes a successful song and how to absorb this into songwriting. What pulls a listener into a song and how to keep them engaged. 

On the final day you will have a chance for your fellow students & practitioners to hear the results of your creativity over the week.
