Partners in Crime
23rd – 30th May 2027 | Naxos, GreeceWith Bestselling Authors Jill Dawson & Louise DoughtyTwo Old Friends, One Unforgettable Week
Some writing partnerships happen on the page. This one happened over years of shared events, shared trips, and — by their own account — a working method built on knowing exactly when to give each other room. "We often describe ourselves that way," says Jill Dawson of the pairing, and it shows: real access to two brilliant novelists, without either of them ever feeling like they're performing.
Jill Dawson and Louise Doughty have taught and travelled together for years, most recently in Bali. Spend a week with them on Naxos and you'll see why it works.

Guest Authors
Jill Dawson
Jill Dawson is the prize-winning author of twelve novels, including Fred and Edie, The Great Lover (about the poet Rupert Brooke), and The Crime Writer (about Patricia Highsmith) — a fitting pedigree for a retreat called Partners in Crime. She is also the editor of six anthologies of poetry and short stories and one poetry chapbook, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and holds an honorary doctorate.
Her latest novel, Pixie, was described by Kirkus Reviews as "a decadent retelling of the life of Pamela 'Pixie' Colman Smith, who illustrated the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck — a transcendent, full-bodied tale of artists who conjure spirits, meaning, and societal change through their practice."
Jill has taught writing extensively and was the Creative Writing Fellow at UEA. She founded Gold Dust, a mentoring scheme for writers, in 2008, and lives in an eco house in the Cambridgeshire Fens.
She's also a qualified yoga teacher and certified Jungian tarot reader.
Louise Doughty
Louise Doughty is the internationally bestselling author of ten novels, most recently A Bird in Winter, out now in paperback from Faber & Faber. Her previous books include Platform Seven, filmed for ITVX; Black Water, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year; the No. 1 bestseller Apple Tree Yard, adapted as a hit mini-series for BBC One; and Whatever You Love, nominated for the Costa Novel Award and the Women's Prize for Fiction. She has been nominated for numerous other prizes, including the Sunday Times Short Story Prize and the CWA Silver Dagger, and created and wrote the BBC drama Crossfire. Her work has been translated into thirty languages.
